Walking Boots

One day, you may discover walking boots on your porch.  Walking boots are weather-beaten.  They are just your size.  You may have vague memories of buying them, but this is a lie.

The walking boots never tire and never slip.  They always take you where you need to be.  There may be magic; there will be wonder.

But walking boots never go home.  The walking boots do not sip tea and only grudgingly tolerate campfires.  The walking boots emphatically do not sit in comfortable chairs.

Whether you put the walking boots on is up to you.

Keep an eye out.

This totally puts me in mind of trying on cursed armor in Nethack--armor that you CAN NEVER TAKE OFF.

Thanks for this wonderful poem. I remembered the first time I spent camping with my dad. I got my first hiking boots and boy, were they polished and cool! I loved those boots and whenever I see a boy camping with his dad wearing a new pair of shoes, I do remember that day. I've always loved camping and the outdoors. Nothing beats the cool, fresh air and the company of people who share your interest. That being said, I always advise my friends to invest in a good boots that will enable them to enjoy nature without the dangers of slips, falls or injuries.
